So if you were building a house would you spend the time, money and effort building it without good strong foundations? I hope the answer to this is No, you wouldn’t want to build unless you knew that your foundations were strong and were able to support that building for a long time.
So if we change the context but keep the principle the same, would you spend the time, money and effort building strong muscles in the gym if you didn’t work with the structure(foundation) underneath that, keeping it balanced and functioning properly?.
Well so many people forget the importance of keeping your own foundations stable, balanced and functioning properly, A humans foundation is there spine and nervous system, the bones are where the muscles attach and the nervous system is what controls the muscle so in order for the muscle to function at its best this needs to be positioned correctly and the nerve impulses need to be able to be sent without disruption.
You may wonder how you can look after that important foundation of yours? Well going to see a Chiropractor who throughly checks your spine for mis-aligned vertebra, which creates imbalance and poor nervous system functioning is a great start.
When a spinal bone is misaligned (subluxated) it will generally make that area imbalanced and it can also effect how that nerve next to it functions thus creating a weak spot in the body. If exercise is done over these areas it can lead to increased likelihood of injury and poor gains in the gym.
It’s the start of a new year where many people have the new years resolution of getting fit and health. The most common way to do this is by hitting the gym and working out hard. Its certainly great to use a gym regularly and work on your fitness and strength but don’t neglect that all important foundation of yours as remember you don’t want to build your house on unstable foundations.
