Chiropractic and Hip pain, how are these two related? Well Hip pain is a common problem that people tell me that they are suffering with when they come into my clinic and they often don’t think Chiropractic could ever help as we only “deal with the spine!”
Hip Pain is commonally a secondary issue to a previous problem that has not been checked or corrected, An example of what I mean by this is that the pain being generated by your hip could be caused by your pelvis not being in the correct position which leads to the hip being in the wrong position which then causes the pain that you feel in your hip.
The common treatment in the medical sector for this type of problem is a muscle relaxant, pain killer or a steroid injection directly into the hip area, this treatment may help reduce your pain however it will not correct the cause of the problem which means the issue will come back and if left will become a Chronic issue which is harder to get rid of than an Acute one.
Chiropractic focuses not just on a person’s symptoms, even though will appreciate that being in Pain will affect the quality of your life it is important to try and find what is causing the pain and look at correcting that. In the example above what we would do is use regular adjustments to correct the mis-aligned pelvis and spinal joints to balance the area and correct the subsequent mis-aligned hip also my getting your spine moving properly it will improve the function of the nerves that control your muscles of the hip. This way of thinking can help you stay away from harmful pain killers and muscle relaxants and move towards a more healthy life.
